The Disney Night of Joy takes place at Disney's Hollywood Studios this year on September 11th and 12th. Here is all you need to know about this annual event. First of all, "What is Disney's Hollywood Studios?" Hollywood Studios is the new name for MGM Studios. The name changed in 2008. The theme of the park, as the name would suggest, is Hollywood and movies. Walking through the park feels like walking through a movie set. There are live shows and backstage tours, and of course, lots of rides. One of the most popular rides is the Rock'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith. It is a fast and furious roller coaster that plays Aerosmith music in your "car" the entire time.

Another attraction, which is new this year at Hollywood Studios, is The American Idol Experience. You'll feel like you're really at the show as part of the audience. You get to vote for your favorite contestant and everything. Select guests can even audition live in front of the audience. If they do well, they can receive a ticket to sing in front of a real American Idol representative at one of the show auditions. There are also many other rides, stunt shows, and activities to do while at Hollywood Studios.

"So, what is Night of Joy?" Night of Joy is an event that celebrates contemporary Christian music. Performers come from all over the world and put on live mini-concerts at various stations throughout the park. This year many returning artists will be featured. On September 11th performances will be given by Chris Tomlin, NewsBoys, Kutless, Leeland, Superchick, Francesca Battistelli, Abandon, Above the Golden State, and Josh Wilson. On September 12th artists featured will be MercyMe, Abandon, Above the Golden State, Josh Wilson, Flyleaf, Skillet, Jars of Clay, Mandisa, and Revive. This year four new bands will appear: September 11th: P.O.D. and NeedtoBreathe. September 12th: Grits and Family Force 5. You'll find all ranges of music, from soft to hard rock.

By purchasing a ticket to the event, you'll get to ride all the rides that are open. (Most of the popular rides are open for the event.) Entrance to the park begins at 4:00 p.m. and performances start at 7:00 p.m. Because of the shortened hours, ticket prices are lower than a regular park admission. If you purchase before the day of the event, you'll pay $49.95 plus tax per adult. The two-day ticket is $84.95 plus tax. If you wait until the day of the event, you'll pay approximately $5.00 more per ticket. There are special group discounts available for 10 or more people.

As any experienced Disney-goer knows, wear comfortable shoes. Do not expect to find seating at all of the concerts. You may end up standing for the really popular artists, but it will be worth it.
