The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is arguably the most thrilling of thrill rides in all of Walt Disney World. The attraction takes place in the abandoned Hollywood Tower Hotel. According to the story, the hotel was once the center of Hollywood glitz and glamour before a thunderstrike caused a large section of the hotel to disappear into the Twilight Zone. The tour through the hotel begins with a look at the deserted lobby and into one of the hotel libraries. Here, the adventure begins as a television mysteriously comes to life and presents the plot of this real life Twilight Zone episode. In this episode, guests become the stars and are taken on and elevator through a thrilling journey that climaxes with an impressive plummet down thirteen floors!

There is a 40" height requirement for this ride.

 

Age: Attraction Review:
ages 2-4 Even if the child is tall enough, the final plunge and creepy show scenes are enough to terrify most kids.
ages 5-10 Some kids are absolutely terrified, others greatly enjoy Tower of Terror. You may want to have them watch the elevators as they plunge to decide if they want to brave the attraction.
ages 11-15 Many pre-teens and teens consider this to be the best attraction at Walt Disney World.
ages 16-adult Widely considered to be one of the best attractions at Walt Disney World.
senior citizens Watch the ride a little while from the ground and decide whether or not it's for your tastes.
   

When to Go

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is one of the premiere attractions at Disney-MGM Studios and attracts long lines throughout the day. Visit in the morning before 11:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. to avoid the longest lines.

FASTPASS

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock 'n Roller Coaster are the two most valuable FASTPASS attractions. A good suggestion would be to grab a FASTPASS for Rock 'n Roller Coaster first thing in the morning and upon returning getting a FASTPASS for Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Disney Facts

  • Look carefully at the footage of Rod Serling in the pre-show video. While his hands are cupped to hold a cigarette, there is not one there as it was digitally erased from the original footage.
  • In the library there are artifacts that will be familiar to Twilight Zone fans. Among them are the broken glasses from Time Enough at Last and the future telling machine from Nick of Time.
  • The ride has been changed many times to include new random drop sequences. At this point there are few different program sequences the computer can pick so the ride is never quite the same twice.
